FOTD-My “Go To” Face

28 Aug

This look is my very easy way to pull off a little bit of glamour in a minimal amount of time. Typically I do not line the lower lash line or put mascara on my lower lashes. I like that part of the eye to be very clean (also, I tend to smear). But when I want a little more razzle dazzle a little extra liner and mascara always do the trick. These two products I am using really prevent run-away make up and always stay in place which is extra important to me, especially now in allergy season. I hope you enjoy!

  • Garnier BB Crème in Light/Medium
  • MAC MSFN in Light Plus
  • MAC Mineralize Blush in Dainty
  • MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NW20

  • MAC Eye Shadow in Wedge in brows

Mani Monday-French Affair by Essie

20 Aug

Welcome back to Mani Monday!

This week I went with what might be my favorite and most-used nail polish, French Affair by Essie.

I think Essie polishes are wonderful. They apply beautifully and never streak or glob up on my nails. They have the exact right amount of creaminess. Their rich consistency makes them super easy to apply.

Initially I thought I would make one last bang with a bright summer color, but yesterday was rainy and blah and I just wasn’t feeling it. Perhaps next week.

Unfortunately, I was flipping through my phone after I completed my manicure and smudged the ring finger on my left hand. I didn’t feel like starting over and it was too smudged to just fix with a little polish remover (or saliva which is what I usually use) so I went ahead and put some white polka dots on there. As fate would have it those got smudged too. At that point I said “forget it” and carried on with my Sunday.

On my nails I have a base coat, two color coats, and a shiny top coat.

Red Alert!-NYX Slim Lip Pencil in Hot Red

24 Jul

Earlier this week I decided to channel my mother and rock a seriously red lip. In order to pull off the most traffic stopping red I could come up with I decided to reach for my new NYX Slim Lip Pencil in Hot Red.

According to NYX these lip pencils are “long-wearing and buttery.” I think I will be the judge of that.

I lined AND filled in my lips with the lip pencil. The application was smooth and easy. No problems there. After completely filling in my lip with lip pencil I sometimes notice it can be a bit drying. In a positive turn of events, this was not the case for Hot Red. My lips didn’t feel as wonderfully creamy as a rich gloss or as smooth and luscious as a soft lipstick, but they felt pretty dang good.

I topped the look off with Very Cherry Lipstick from Maybelline. All together I got about five hours of really good wear and another two hours of so-so wear.  Those are pretty good stats for a lip product in my book.

This lip pencil is totally a keeper and has officially made its way into my travel makeup bag. Wahoo!

Mani Monday-Tangerine Crush from L’Oreal

23 Jul

Happy Monday! Just kidding, Mondays are the worst.

I figured Mondays could use a little pick me up so I have decided to start a blog feature called “Mani Monday” where I will feature some freshly polished fingers each and every Monday.

Every single Sunday I give myself a manicure so with any luck I won’t run out of shades and begin to bore you too soon. Hopefully, though, I will also be featuring manicures being donned by my best girlfriends!

For this inaugural Mani Monday I have decided to feature a shade I have been drawn to quite a bit this summer. On my nails I have L’Oreal’s Tangerine Crush. In my opinion it is the perfect shade for this summer, very trendy. It has a nice opaque finish. I used one base coat, two color coats, and a shiny topcoat to complete the look.

You will come to notice that I always, Always, ALWAYS have short fingernails. I just cannot pull off long nails, they always feel dirty to me so I apologize in advance for not having a lot of room to show off my colors.

I got my bottle at CVS and you can probably pick one up just about anywhere!
